Clark-Estes Apartments achieves Enterprise Green Communities Certification

Clark-Estes Apartments has earned an Enterprise Green Communities certification!

Enterprise Green Communities is the nation’s only national green building program designed explicitly for green affordable housing construction, demonstrating a holistic approach to green affordable housing. To achieve certification, all projects must reach required mandatory standards within categories of Integrative Design, Location + Neighborhood Fabric, Site Improvements, Water Conservation, Energy Efficiency, Materials, Healthy Living Environment, and Operations, Maintenance + Resident Engagement.

The project was designed with sustainability and energy-efficiency in mind. In addition to receiving an Enterprise Green Communities certification, the project also received a grant from ComEd to make additional energy-efficiency improvements.

Clark-Estes Apartments provides 54 units of affordable residential housing with a mix of studio, one, and two-bedroom units, 20 parking spaces on site, resident access to a community courtyard and outdoor patio, and 3,350 square feet of first-floor retail space. It is one of the first 100 percent affordable projects developed under the new Transit-Oriented Development ordinance in the City of Chicago.
