Silver Birch of Muncie – NGBS Certified!
Silver Birch of Muncie in Muncie, Indiana recently achieved 2012 National Green Building Standard (NGBS) Bronze Certification. The project provides 119 units of affordable assisted living for seniors. Sustainable design strategies provide community connectivity, energy and resource efficiency, and a healthy living environment for the residents at Silver Birch. Key green features at Silver Birch of Muncie include:

- Outdoor landscaped walking paths
- Preservation of existing trees on site along the riverfront during demolition & construction
- Native landscape plantings
- A series of bioswales that enhance natural site drainage to the White River and provide visual interest to the landscape
- Energy Star rated appliances
- Energy efficient LED and compact fluorescent lighting
- Durable, long-lasting, low maintenance materials
- Water-conserving plumbing fixtures
- Low VOC interior paints, sealants, carpets, and adhesives
- Quiet Exhaust fans remove indoor air pollutants and supply residents with fresh air
