Andy's Place receives 2021 Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Award
Andy’s Place has won a 2021 Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Award in the Housing for Special Needs Populations category!
Located in Jackson, MI, the development provides permanent affordable supportive housing and comprehensive on-site support services for individuals recovering from opioid addiction, offering 39 one-bedroom apartments and a separate building with 11 two-bedroom apartments to provide homes to families.
Andy’s Place is the first housing development in the nation to use the Permanent Recovery Supportive Housing (PRSH) model, which addresses addiction recovery holistically. Created in response to the opioid crisis in Michigan, the initiative represents a collaboration between individuals, civic groups, addiction treatment professionals, institutions, governments, and other organizations to create safe and supportive environments for residents and families to help those affected by opioid addiction stay on a path to success and recovery.
Mike Hirst, Andy’s father and founder of the Andy’s Angels nonprofit, attended an awards presentation in Washington, D.C. at the end of September to accept the award.
WJW is proud to be a partner on this innovative project!
