Hope Manor Joliet receives 2019 Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Award
Hope Manor Joliet has been named a winner of the 2019 Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Award in the Veterans Housing category.
A national award announced by the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition (AHTCC), the Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Awards recognize excellence in the affordable housing industry and organizations that have demonstrated especially impactful use of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (Housing Credit). Announced each year at an event on Capitol Hill that unites members of Congress, business and housing leaders, the award honors Housing Credit developments that are strengthening communities, improving residents’ health and boosting economies in urban, suburban and rural areas across the country.
Developed by Volunteers of America, Hope Manor Joliet is one of the first large scale, supportive housing developments in the country specifically designed for Veterans with families. Located on the former site of the old Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, IL, this campus-style development provides a flexible continuum of housing and supportive services to individual Veterans and Veterans with families through a unique combination of 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartments spread across multiple 3-story buildings organized around a central park. Numerous sustainable design techniques were employed, and the development achieved Enterprise Green Communities certification, which includes Energy Star certification of each residential apartment.
WJW is proud to have been a team member on this important project and is honored that Hope Manor Joliet has received this prestigious award!
