Grand Opening of Silver Birch of Hammond

Silver Birch of Hammond, in Hammond, Indiana, opened its doors to the public for the first time on May 18, 2017. Representatives from the City of Hammond, Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA), and many other project partners gathered together to mark the official opening of the senior living facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Todd, Michelle and Will attended the ceremony as representatives of the WJW team that helped bring the project to fruition. Silver Birch of Hammond is WJW’s first completed new-construction project in Indiana and the beginning of a new wave of projects set to open across the state line in the coming years.

The 125-resident senior living facility offers private residences along with a wealth of amenities designed to foster a welcoming and social atmosphere. Studio and one-bedroom units are nestled amongst community spaces such as a wellness suite featuring fitness and physical therapy equipment, an in-house beauty salon and barber shop, art studio, library and game room. The formal dining room, café and community room have open access to a patio overlooking a fully landscaped yard highlighted by a grove of trees and a series of water-purifying bioswales. Further green initiatives such as high-efficiency lighting and plumbing fixtures, site orientation that maximizes passive daylighting, and low-VOC interior finishes come together to achieve NGBS Silver Certification.

WJW is proud to have been a team member on this project.
