Groundbreaking for Broadview Senior Apartments

Todd, Keith, and John M. represented WJW at the formal groundbreaking ceremony held for Broadview Senior Apartments on October 29th, 2020.

The new three-story, multifamily housing development will provide 70 one and two-bedroom units of housing for seniors and veterans in the village of Broadview. It addresses the need for seniors in the community who have been long-time residents, but are looking for an affordable option that will allow them to remain in the neighborhood they call home. To provide a long-term, healthy and sustainable environment, the building was designed to be certified by the National Green Building Standard and incorporates many energy efficient features, improved indoor air quality, and low water use plumbing fixtures.

The groundbreaking marks the official commencement of a project that has been roughly a decade in the making, with the ceremony taking place one month after the Broadview Village Board voted in favor of an ordinance that authorized and approved a lease agreement between the village and Housing Opportunity Development Corporation, the nonprofit entity partnering with development firm Ross Financial to build the facility.

Attendees at the ceremony included Broadview Mayor Katrina Thompson, Building Commissioner David Upshaw, Trustee Judy Miller and other village officials, Housing Authority of Cook County executive director Richard Monnochio, Ross Financial, and Walsh Construction.

WJW is proud to be a team member on the Broadview Senior Apartments project, bringing much-needed affordable housing to seniors in Broadview.
