Heidi named recipient of 2020 Dubin Family Young Architect Award
WJW is proud to announce that Heidi has been named the recipient of AIA Chicago’s Dubin Family Young Architect Award for 2020!
Established in 1983 and administered by the AIA Chicago Foundation, the Dubin Family Young Architect Award recognizes excellence in ability and exceptional contributions by Chicago area architects between the ages of twenty-five and thirty-nine or licensed 10 years or fewer.
A partner in the firm since 2018, Heidi has designed or managed over 40 projects since joining WJW in 2007. Heidi’s impact is noticeable in refined building exteriors and memorable interior spaces, but of even greater importance is the purpose which she places on architecture to uplift those whom it serves. Her person-centered approach to design can be seen in many of the firm’s most prominent projects, especially in senior living and special care residential facilities, maintaining a focus on our elders who are most impacted by the built environment. She has spearheaded an effort at WJW to develop industry-leading design concepts for Evidence-Based Memory Care Special Care facilities, and as a result is now known nationally among those at the forefront of designing for dementia.
Said one juror of Heidi, "Her service to a vulnerable population is exceptional. She brings her whole ethos to the community."
WJW congratulates Heidi on this fantastic achievement!
