WJW welcomes Rachel!

While the COVID-19 pandemic has WJW still sheltering in place, we are very glad to welcome Rachel to the WJW family virtually!

Before moving to Chicago, Rachel worked for an architecture firm in New York City focusing on high end residential renovations and townhouses for private families. Prior to her time in the residential sector, Rachel worked on larger scale commercial projects for broadcast centers, government agencies, and business headquarters in New York City.

Rachel received her Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies and Visual Arts from Brown University, where she first fell in love with the history of modern architecture. She then received her Master of Architecture degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation in 2016, where she was a recipient of a 2016 William Kinne Traveling Fellowship. Throughout her studies, Rachel explored ways to capture feeling and emotion, while striving to create space that could provoke reaction and change lives. In the summer of 2015, she traveled through a school organized workshop to Madurai, India, where she collaborated with students at a local university to engage community members in reimagining an ecologically sustainable future for their beloved, though majorly polluted, river. This workshop reinforced her desire to design spaces of social impact that can help communities.

In her free time, Rachel enjoys traveling and exploring new places with her sketchbook in hand. She is also perfectly content when on a boat in the middle of a lake.
