Hope Manor Village featured in Midwest Multifamily & Affordable Housing Business

Hope Manor Village was featured in the recent July/August issue of Midwest Multifamily & Affordable Housing Business !

The article explores the increase of Chicago developments to offer a mixed-income housing model approach, incorporating a mix of affordable units and market-rate units within one community.

“Our work on the redevelopment of former public housing high-rise communities has shown that the creation of new mixed-income communities, in partnership with the city and developers, helps break the isolation of public housing by weaving these communities into the fabric of neighborhoods across Chicago,” says Chicago Housing Authority’s Karen Vaughan, quoted within the article.

Developed by Volunteers of America of Illinois, Hope Manor Village brings 36 two-bedroom apartments of scattered-site family housing to Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood, and is highlighted as an example of a project that integrates high-quality affordable housing into the existing character of a neighborhood. Developments such as Hope Manor Village are designed with the goal of making no distinctions between affordable housing and what people would want and need from market-rate housing, viewing housing as a tool in contributing to community revitalization.

Part of the developer’s obligation is to present a really attractive building design. We try to create developments that anybody would want to live in.
