What’s New at NeoCon: Final Friday with the Materials Committee

Over a recent Final Friday lunch presentation, Jacquie and Andrew represented the WJW Materials Committee to provide a recap of some key takeaways from NeoCon 2019 and lead an activity designed to explore color palettes.

NeoCon, North America’s largest design exposition and conference for commercial interiors, is held annually each June at the Mart in Chicago. The design fair brings together interior designers, architects, product representatives and manufacturers, and uses keynote addresses, seminars, and exhibits to foster conversations about new trends, methods, and technologies in the industry while exploring innovative design solutions from around the world.

A major feature of NeoCon 2019 involved the use of lots of bold and bright color, and as an exercise in the creation of color palettes, staff were invited to bring in an inspiration object that would be used as a starting point. Sample materials in a variety of colors and textures were provided to allow staff to select colors and tones found in their object to create palettes that could be used as inspiration for interior finishes and beyond.
