New Arrivals to Chicago Panel Discussion Wrap-up

Thanks to everyone who joined us January 23 for our first ever DEA panel discussion!

WJW's Dialogue, Education, and Activism Committee organized the panel in conjunction with the Illinois Housing Council and AIA Chicago. Special thanks to our panelists Lore Baker, Michael Banghart, Tramaine Martin, and Tina Rounds. A recording of the discussion is available here.

Association for Individual Development (AID)

AID provides social services in the greater Fox Valley area and other western Chicagoland suburban counties. People served: individuals with developmental, intellectual, physical and/or mental health challenges, those in crisis situations, and those at risk. Vital, life-enriching services that promote the highest level of independence and community immersion include: autism programs; permanent supportive housing; in-home support; developmental and vocational training; job placement and on-the-job coaching services; crisis intervention; victims services; mental health treatment; behavioral intervention; health and wellness; community education; and advocacy.

BEDS Plus

BEDS Plus is a leading, fiscally sound provider of HUD programming including evidence-based Emergency, Interim Housing, Transitional Housing, and Supportive Housing services.

Tina Rounds, CEO of BEDS Plus, mentioned in the discussion that social services nonprofits are often seeking individuals to serve on their boards, so that would be another great way to support and get involved!
