Hope Manor Village wins AHF 2021 Readers’ Choice Awards overall best development
Hope Manor Village has been named the Overall Best Development winner in Affordable Housing Finance’s annual Readers' Choice Awards for the nation’s top developments of 2020 and 2021! Magazine and newsletter subscribers also voted the project as the best urban development.
Hope Manor Village brings new scattered-site development to Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood, replacing 16 vacant lots with 36 two-bedroom apartments and integrating high-quality affordable housing into the existing character of the community. Built on lots in the surrounding blocks of Hope Manor II, the project is part of a multi-phase development by Volunteers of America Illinois to address the disinvestment of the area.

Another WJW project, Andy’s Place, was also voted the winner of the Special-Needs category! Addressing the need for long-term affordable housing combined with on-site support services for individuals suffering from opioid and other addictions, Andy’s Place in Jackson, Michigan, is the first permanent supportive recovery housing in the nation that incorporates the drug treatment courts. Differing from a traditional sober halfway house model, it provides full apartments, allowing families to remain intact with no limitation on length of stay.
WJW is proud to be a team member on these important projects and is honored for their recognition. Congratulations to all who worked to make them a reality!
