Preservation of Affordable Housing honored at 2023 Mayor’s Awards for Preservation

Michelle recently represented WJW at the City of Elgin’s Mayor’s Awards for Preservation hosted by the Elgin Heritage Commission, where Preservation of Affordable Housing was named a 2023 Mayor’s Award Recipient for their extensive investment and rehabilitation of the Abby C. Wing School located at 260 Center Street.

Originally built in 1890, the renovated 3-story structure provides 27 units of affordable housing in Elgin, IL.

WJW was proud to be a partner on this transformative renovation project that preserved and improved existing affordable housing while restoring the exterior to be more aligned with its historic character.
