Heidi and Liezel attend event for Mildred Wiley Wellness Hub

Heidi and Liezel recently attended a fundraising event for the Mildred Wiley Wellness Hub at Bethel New Life in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood.

Sharif Walker, President & CEO of Bethel New Life, gave a tour of the campus and shared the vision and plans for the new Wellness Hub, named after Austin community leader and activist Mildred Wiley. With the planned designs for the campus space, the Mildred Wiley Wellness Hub seeks to provide programming and initiatives that promote health and wellness for members of the community. Plans include further garden areas, a Horticulture Center, a fitness center, café, and more.

During the event, the courtyard garden was in full bloom with flowers and vegetables, and booths were set up that allowed guests to meet health, wellness, and education partners. Chicago Botanic Garden’s Windy City Harvest hosted a station to make fragrant sachets with herbs and spices, A Leading Man Productions shared information on their upcoming yoga, meditation, and self-care sessions for men, and Project Exploration, a STEM education nonprofit, had butter making and slime making stations — Heidi and Liezel even made some magnetic slime!
