Madison III Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting
Madison III is now open to at-risk young adults in Peoria.
Todd, Parahita, and Connor recently travelled to Peoria to celebrate the grand opening of our Madison III Apartments project, which is a permanent supportive housing development for young adults ages 18-24. Part of the Phoenix Community Development program in Peoria, the mission of Madison III is to serve those who are unhoused, at risk of being unhoused, and those with disabling behavioral health conditions. Joining the ribbon cutting were Rita Ali, Mayor of Peoria; State Senator Dave Koehler; Pam Stevens and Chris Kahl of Phoenix Community Development; IHDA Deputy Executive Director Karen Davis; Dan Joos of CORE Construction; and Maggy Jares, finance consultant. The event was covered by WCBU and 25 News.
WJW also designed the 24-unit Madison II apartment building next door, which opened in 2022. We developed an overall campus plan to bring together all of Phoenix’s housing and support services in downtown Peoria in one unified space - an “urban oasis,” as Phoenix calls it. In a short amount of time, we’ve designed 40 units of PSH in Peoria which have helped put a measurable dent in Peoria’s homeless population, in support of the city’s strategic goal of “functional zero” homelessness.
Thank you to all of our partners in this impactful project. It takes many dedicated people to see a project like this to completion, and we are so happy to celebrate it together!
