WJW at Illinois Housing Council Forum
Gathering with affordable housing leaders statewide
WJW recently attended the Illinois Housing Forum, an annual event that brings together leaders of affordable housing development from across Illinois. As a firm whose work is rooted in creating quality, dignified housing for those who need it most, WJW has long been an participant and sponsor of the Forum and IHC. This year was no exception, with WJW showing up not just as attendees but as a sponsor, a panelist, a board member, and a committee member, reflecting the depth of our investment in advancing affordable housing across the state.
Heidi moderated a panel on the topic of “Adaptive Reuse in Action: Converting Community Sites into Affordable Homes." The panel included Chrissy Ferrantelli of Brush Hill Development, Brian Hollenback of the Economic Growth Corporation, and Therese Thompson of Cordogan Clark & Associates. The discussion included a case study of Las Rosas, a project we are working on in collaboration with the Association for Individual Development that is currently under construction in Aurora, IL. Las Rosas has two components - converting a former parochial school into permanent supportive housing, and then constructing a new building on a former parking lot to create more housing, with total of 20 units and community spaces. It was terrific to have a chance to discuss this project with the panel and share it with the IHC audience.
WJW was a sponsor of this year's Forum, Heidi serves on the IHC board, and Herb serves on IHC's programming committee.
Thank you to the Illinois Housing Council for organizing another impactful event!
