Mary attends SHIFT Housing Summit

Creative approaches to contemporary housing needs
Mary recently attended the Chicago Architecture Biennial SHIFT Housing Summit. This one-day event brought together an interdisciplinary panel of speakers to address the need for affordable housing in Chicago, and how creative solutions can be applied to this growing issue. With sessions at the National Public Housing Museum and downtown Chicago, this was a day of thought-provoking ideas, conversations, and a tour of the BREATHROUGH exhibit at the museum's new permanent home.
"Hearing local professionals discuss their work in providing affordable, accessible, and public housing in Chicago was very invigorating," Mary commented. "The National Public Housing Museum is stunning, full of fantastic information about public housing, and the onsite public housing is a great example of the museum enacting their mission that housing is a human right. Contemporary examples of forward thinking design, like the JIGZIBIK project and the Carehaus project, are innovative models that can inspire and inform our work at WJW."
Thank you to the team at Chicago Architecture Biennel for organzing an unforgettable event!
