A New Chapter at Garden Apartments
Celebrating new permanent supportive housing, greater independence, and community connection in Worth.
Having a place to call your own opens up new possibilities for independence, connection, and everyday life. On September 9th, Garden Center Services celebrated the opening of Garden Apartments in Worth, IL, welcoming a new chapter in independent living for 20 adults with disabilities.
WJW is proud to have worked with Garden Center Services on this permanent supportive housing (PSH) development featuring 16 apartments, on-site supportive services, and shared spaces that support residents' independence and opportunities for connection. Twelve one-bedroom and four two-bedroom apartments provide residents with their own kitchens, bathrooms, and living spaces. Community and recreation areas offer places to gather, while an outdoor patio and therapy garden extend those opportunities outside. Together, these spaces provide residents room for both personal routines and social connection with neighbors.
A transit-oriented development (TOD) within walking distance of grocery stores, local businesses, and a Metra train station, Garden Apartments connects residents to everday essentials and transit, supporting greater independence and participation in the community.
The opening advances Garden Center Services' longstanding mission of supporting and empowering people with developmental disabilities. Founded by a group of parents in 1956, the organization has spent decades expanding opportunities for people to live, work, and participate in their communities.
We are grateful to Garden Center Services and the many funding and community partners who helped make Garden Apartments a reality. Congratulations to the team and to the residents making Garden Apartments their new home!
