Book Club: Homelessness is a Housing Problem

WJW read a thought-provoking and informative book about homelessness for our latest book club meeting.

WJW's office book club met recently to discuss the book "Homelessness is a Housing Problem" by Clayton Aldern and Gregg Colburn. The book makes a compelling case that many of the assumptions we make about homelessness aren't borne out by examining the data on American cities. Instead, the authors argue that the real drivers of homelessness are things like how available and affordable rental housing is in a particular area.

WJW has a longstanding commitment to create more affordable housing in our communities, and many of our projects are proof that affordable housing can also be beautiful, sustainable, and integrated into the existing neighborhood that surrounds it. See our Work section for project profiles.

Co-author Gregg Colburn was also the keynote speaker at the Illinois Affordable Housing Forum back in February.
