WJW is thrilled to share that our Women Build team participated in a build day on October 3. Women Build is accepting donations through October 26.

Women Build is an opportunity for hundreds of women to come together to advance the construction of homes for Habitat for Humanity. In the months leading up to the event, teams raise money to help fund construction of the homes and participate in a day of building. Our team of nine WJW staff members + Megan Wade of Fieldwork Design Group will help with the construction of four houses in Chicago's Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.

Why is home ownership so critical, especially for women? It improves school performance for children, improves financial outcomes for families, and enhances the health and well-being of children and adults – just to name a few reasons. Due to gendered barriers like the pay gap and its impact on credit access, and uneven childcare responsibilities that limit time and financial resources, it can be far more difficult for a woman to own a home than a similarly situated man. This is a great opportunity to make a difference!
