Tracking our impact

As an architecture firm, after construction is complete, a project is out of our hands and it moves from our "ongoing projects" roster into the archive. However, our relationships with our projects are ongoing and we have conducted many post-occupancy surveys to evaluate how well our vision for a particular space operates in practice with residents and support staff who work onsite. We remain engaged with finished work because it is always informative to see how our designs are used by the people who live and work in the buildings.

One of our more recent projects, the BEDS+ Summit Service Medical Respite Center, has been featured on the HUD website, and the statistics published there give an indication of the impact of our work. The building, located in Summit, Illinois, was formerly a bank. WJW partnered with BEDS+ to redesign the space to serve as a medical respite shelter for medically vulnerable people experiencing homelessness. We are excited and proud to see how many people the center has already served, and how many were able to transition to stable housing after being treated at the center.

Special thanks to BEDS+ for their partnership on this project!
