Intro to Architecture Workshop
Our summer mentoring experience for teens is underway and off to great start!
The workshop, now in its second year, was created by WJW's Volunteer Committee. Meeting weekly for five sessions, the curriculum is designed to give high school students exposure to the field of architecture. The participants each create a design project and will present it at the final session in a few weeks.
A variety of presenters are built in to the program as well. Heidi and Mary shared some of their expertise, and this week we were fortunate to welcome guest presenter Karen Lang from Bryght Group Inc, who is a Certified Circadian Wellness Auditor.
The workshop has seven participants, ranging from age 15-18. So far, students have learned about the difference between drafting (which is scaled) and drawing (which is perspectival), how the design process works between architects, builders, and developers, and state-of-the-art lighting design. They have begun their design projects and will receive one-on-one mentoring from our staff throughout the process.
Stay tuned for more updates about our team of aspiring architects and designers!
