Mike, Jane, and Maggie Attend 2022 Landmarks Illinois Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Preservation Awards Ceremony

An Awards Ceremony for the 2022 Landmarks Illinois Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Preservation Awards was held on November 4th at the Chicago Cultural Center, honoring the award-winning projects and the people who helped make them possible.

Mike, Jane and Maggie attended the event on behalf of WJW as part of the project team for Lofts on the Square, which received an Award for Advocacy.

The Lofts on the Square project, once on the Landmarks Illinois list of Most Endangered Historic Places in Illinois, now holds a designation on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the historic former Hotel Belleville provides 47 beautifully preserved and renovated apartments for independent seniors in downtown Belleville, demonstrating how historic preservation can support the values of building a more inclusive model of downtown redevelopment through the conversion of a historic building into affordable housing.

WJW is proud to be a team member on this important project and is honored for its recognition. Congratulations to Bywater Development Group, Southwestern Illinois Development Authority, Michael Allen with Preservation Research Office, the City of Belleville, the Belleville Historical Society, Holland Construction Services, and all who worked to make it a reality!
